RESEARCH AND MEDIA PROJECTS

My broadcast media work includes sourcing images, locations and logistics as well as making personal appearances on BBC London News, BBC One, ITV, BBC World Service Radio, BBC London radio and various podcasts.

For publishers I've provided quotes and reviews, sourced and licensed images and fact checked stories for outlets including  Time Out London, English Heritage, Folio Society, BBC, Londonist and local magazines.

ITV "I DIDN'T KNOW THAT ABOUT BRITAIN"

I appeared on episode 3 of this prime time show discussing the centre of London with Paul Martin.

THE SOHO I LOVE DOCUMENTARY

LCC Media students made this 8 minute documentary where I talk about what I love about Soho, its culture and street art, and follows me and a group on part of the Seven Noses of Soho tour.

BBC ONE "INSIDE OUT LONDON" - THE NEWGATE PRISON DIARY

I advised and appeared on this episode of Inside Out London about the Newgate Prison Diary. The chilling diary of The Reverend Horace Salusbury Cotton listing every execution at Newgate between 1812 and 1839 came to light when Peter Harrington Books acquired it at auction and subsequently invited me to blog about it.

THE STORY OF MARBLE ARCH

I was commissioned to research and write The Story of Marble Arch, a unique heritage publication for Marble Arch London, the Business Improvement District (BID) for the Marble Arch and Edgware Road area.

Research required extensive reading from my personal London library as well as accessing specialist archives and liaising with other experts. I also tracked down the pieces of sculpture intended for Marble Arch now to be found at various sites around London.

You can read The Story of Marble Arch free, online or pick up a copy at hotels around the Marble Arch BID area.

WALK THIS WAY SOUTHBANK

The Walk This Way - South Bank guide was first published in 2003 and a lot has changed since then! South Bank Employers Group commissioned my wife and I to update the guide. They wished to retain the informed and well-researched ethos of the first edition with a focus on architecture and history while sharing fascinating facts, showcasing new developments and flagging future projects.

We undertook in-depth field work to enhance our knowledge of the area and redesign the route, making surprising discoveries along the way. Much of the original copy had to be re-written and re-edited in a tight timescale, and we worked with SBEG's designer and project manager on mapping and laying out the new route.

Walk This Way - South Bank was launched on Open House weekend 2016 and we led c.100 people on free guided walks of the area over the two days to mark 25 years of SBEG. Browse the online version here or pick up a free copy from any of the major attractions and hotels on South Bank.
